Medication Errors and Best Practices in Medication

Bundled newpapers

A medication error is something that can damage the health of an individual, but can be prevented. Errors can happen when prescriptions are written or when medications are given or taken. Giving the wrong medicine or taking the wrong amount accounts for about a third of all medication errors.

Understanding medication safety and best practices in medication documentation can help to reduce the chances of a medication error.

This newsletter discusses several aspects of medication safety.  These include medication errors, best practices in documentation, medication storage and disposal, and the Medication Support Checklist.
